Founded in 1899 and originally dedicated to Queen Victoria, the Victoria County History (VCH) is an encyclopaedic record of England's places and people from earliest times to the present day. It has been described as the greatest publishing project in English local history.

Copyright restrictions prevent the articles being reproduced here but below are links to transcriptions at the british-history academic website of Part 3 which covers the three hundreds of Chiltern in the south of the county, Cottesloe in the east and includes the boroughs of Amersham, Buckingham and High Wycombe.
